Illustrated with 15 steel engravings of famous contemporary actors playing different Shakespearean roles; i.e. John Wilkes Booth, William Wheatly, Edwin Forrest, etc. Leather cover embosed with Romanesque border and gilt vingette of the Bard on a pedestal with angles and book in hand. Back cover features the word "Shakespeare" embossed in gilt. 5-Ringed spine with gilt lettering. Gilt page edges. Book is in overall Good/VG condition. Spine has some heavy rubbing evident, as well to outer edges of cover. Spine and binding still well intact; with only a few leaves loose or detached. Pages are clean and lightly yellowed around the edges.
