Fine copy of Eliot's great fictional work set in the 15th century and examining life in medieval Florence from an intellectual, artistic, religious, and social point of view. Red cloth hardcovers with gilt borders and letting on spine. Slight fading to spines and small wear to base and crown. Interiors are tight, fresh and sharp. Name of previous owner on first page.Two small dings to cover edge on Vol. II. Pages gilt topped. Excellent, gift quality condition.

Discoloration around edges; some cracking/chipping along spine edge, some rubbing and discoloration to leather. Rear board is water stained. Binding well intact. Some pages have a corner waterstain; otherwise free of marks and tears, bright. 185 pp.

Illustrated with 6 color plates and 48 pages of monochrome illustrations, as well as 69 drawings. First U.S. Edition of very rare film version of the verse play. It contains the complete scenario of the play, along with the new scenes written by Eliot for the film version. It also contains photos of the sets and actors, details of the costume and architectural decoration for the film. In Fine condition with VG++ dustjacket in mylar cover. Binding is tight, pages sharp and unmarked. Black jacket features color illustration of a stained glass window with lettering white. Jacket has very minor edge wear to top and a few small creases in flaps. Not price clipped. Protected in mylar covering. A very hard to find item at an excellent price.
