First Edition, First State of this important and uncommon book by the popular Atlantic Monthly columnist Holmes in VG condition. Taken from the first paper edition imprints, these first editions were limited to 300 copies. Brown pebbled hardcovers have some edgweare and dustdulling, gilt title on spine intact. Some spine wear, including small fraying on crown and 1/2" tear. Also some play to spine, but binding well intact. Pages browned with age around the edges, but clear and sharp. 410 pp.
